Trans-Plan is seeking a Traffic Data Assistant (Level I) to fulfill key roles in new projects and in supporting our continued growth. As a Traffic Data Assistant (Level I), you will be part of the integral data collection stage for each project.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Conducting a variety of traffic survey field work which includes installing count cameras, performing manual parking study related counts and any data collection required within the preliminary phase of a project
  • Performing any and all office work related tasks (buying office supplies, picking up project reports etc.)
  • Installing, monitoring and maintaining traffic data collection equipment including vehicles used for travel
  • Driving to various sites all over Ontario (occasionally outside Ontario) and scheduling cameras / ATRs
  • Scheduling, in collaboration with all Civil Engineers, camera set up and pick up dates and times to ensure that data is collected in a timely manner
  • Responsible for identifying, buying and constructing camera related technology as well as innovate with regards to upgrades within the system
  • Compiling, analyzing and reviewing traffic survey data
  • Complying with safety guidelines whilst surveying at all times (Training is Provided)
  • The job requires lifting and carrying of heavy traffic equipment (up to 25lb)

Qualifications and Skills

  • Must have technical education background such as: Engineering, Planning, Technology etc.
  • Must be punctual, reliable and always represent the company in a professional manner
  • Proficiency with MS Office is required: Word, Excel etc. 
  • Are able to work both individually and in a team environment
  • Flexibility in schedule is preferred
  • A valid Ontario Driver's License Class G is required for this position

REPORTS TO: General Manager - Engineering. 

LOCATION: Trans-Plan Head Office – Toronto, ON.

TRAVEL: Up to 80%-90% travel.
